The Experience Leadership Project
An effort to understand how leaders and organizations are successfully driving experience as a value.
We aim to contribute to a body of knowledge, grounded in research, that explores the role of leaders in the field of Experience Design.
Why Experience - Why Now?
Digital is impacting all aspects of the human experience.
These impacts are felt in how we work - live - play - and generally experience the world. Many believe the Experience Economy "... threatens to render irrelevant those who relegate themselves to the diminishing world of goods and services." We see this shift both in our work with clients and at the universities where we teach. Some have taken to saying that we're at the beginning of the Emergent Era and "... what's emerging is a brilliant future. With more time to be creative. More time to be human." We know that we're facing a tremendous digital skills gap which is felt even more dramatically in the field of experience design. This is driven, in part, by a lack of proper educational offerings.
We believe research methods, rigor, and approach matter.
As researchers, we feel research protocols are important to ensure valid outcomes. Our intention is to adhere to a well defined research methodology, work to minimize bias and to be selective with our participant pool. Our plan is to share our research findings at the conclusion of the study.
Given the tumultuous changes organizations face combined with the significant skills gap in the field, we believe it's important to document what appears to be working today so that we can help the field of Experience Design prepare for what may be required in the future.
